How it works

It is easier than you think:

  • The satellite modem connects your dish to your PC or router.
  • Your dish connects you to the satellite.
  • The satellite then connects you to the Internet backbone no matter where you are.
  • Broadband anywhere. Available immediately.

It is cheaper than you think:

  • Monthly subscriptions start already at 10 €/month
  • Service packages start from 25.95 €/month at download speeds of 2 Mbps and 2 GB of monthly volume up to 20 Mbps download
  • Satellite kits (dish + modem) is normally 350€, but most commercial offerings provide that the service provider leases the equipment or offers it “free of charge”, embedding its cost in the monthly service fee

Does it work?

With satellite broadband you can enjoy access to Internet even in the most isolated areas.

  • A fast solution – all that is required is the delivery of ground equipment to the consumers; satellites already cover every part of the globe
  • A reliable solution - rather than use an underground copper/fibre network, satellite broadband operates by sending and receiving your broadband signal to a satellite about 22,000 miles in space. Because the satellite sits high up in space, it can provide equal quality of coverage to every home or business in its footprint.

And what about latency?

Because your broadband signal travels to and from the satellite, some Internet applications work differently over satellite than they do on a copper/fibre network. Typically the more data being sent either way, the better the system performs. Hence latency has the least impact on applications like file downloading (e.g. films, photos) and streaming. From Email to Internet and social media to VoIP, the performance is exactly the same. The only user experience affected by latency is online gaming.
