International Telecommunications Union (ITU)

ESOA’s satellite operators obtain orbital slots and the right to use certain frequencies from the ITU, which works primarily on international frequency allocation and frequency coordination matters. In 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ESOA and the ITU to ensure a closer collaboration.

Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC)

ESOA is a standing invitee to the ETC which is an organisation established by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA). Most, if not all, ESOA members are active participants in deploying satellite solutions in crises zones around the world: satellites are the first telecommunications solution for such circumstances as they are portable and independent from terrestrial infrastructure.

Global VSAT Forum (GVF)

ESOA cooperates regularly with GVF on spectrum matters - GVF is a non-profit, international association - representing globally the interests of VSAT system and service providers, as well as end users and it leads the Satellite Spectrum Initiative.

Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC)

APSCC is a non-profit international satellite communications association in the Asia Pacific region that works to promote communications and broadcasting via satellite as well as outer space activities for the socioeconomic and cultural welfare of the region. ESOA and APSCC collaborate regularly on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding on global issues concerning spectrum and trade matters.

Electronic Communications Committee of the CEPT (ECC)

ESOA works with the ECC on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding, attending their meetings regularly as an observer and participating actively as necessary from time to time.

European Internet Foundation (EIF)

ESOA is a Member of the European Internet Foundation (EIF).
EIF’s mission is to support Members of the European Parliament from all political groups in their efforts to shape policy and regulation responsive to the growing potential of the internet and new technologies.

ESOA is an active member of the European Services Forum that promotes the trade interests of the broader services sector.

Eurospace

Eurospace represents the European satellite industrial base. ESOA represents Eurospace’s main customers and collaborates with Eurospace in front of policymakers on matters of common interest.

Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies (NEREUS)

ESOA cooperates with Nereus to bring knowledge about satellite services such as broadband or emergency communications to European regions and support them in regional development activities.

Satellite Industry Association (SIA)

SIA is the North American association of satellite industry, representing American satellite operators, service providers, manufacturers, launch services providers, and ground equipment suppliers. ESOA works regularly with SIA on global issues concerning spectrum and trade matters.

Eurisy

ESOA works with Eurisy (Association that includes most space agencies or governmental offices in charge of space affairs in Europe, and international organisations dealing with space matters) to ensure users know about essential services delivered from space to society.

United Nations Operational Satellite Program (UNOSAT)

ESOA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNOSAT to work together in identifying the appropriate satellite resources to optimise the deployment and use of satellite solutions for international development and emergency response.

World Space Risk Forum

ESOA cooperates with the World Space Risk Forum (WSRF). WSRF is the largest specialist gathering of its kind, bringing together satellite operators, manufacturers, space agencies, risk managers, brokers, underwriters, lawyers and capital providers to network and learn more about the threats we face as an industry.
