ESOA participates in Eurisy More4NRG Workshop
Satellite technology has a definite 'green' component, it being a communications infrastructure which generates enough electric power from solar energy to keep working for its entire lifetime. Satellite services from earth observation to communications are also extremely useful in implementing energy efficiency strategies and solutions: they allow real-time monitoring of remotely located plants whether for wind, water or solar power plants and relay data constantly back to the management authority, also warning in case of disfunction or interruption. As such satellites can form an integral part of regional, national, European and global strategies for energy efficiency.
ESOA is part of a Eurisy working group looking at what difference space technology can make to the implementation of energy efficiency strategies of 11 European regions. ESOA Secretary General, Aarti Holla-Maini, spoke in Dublin on behalf of ESOA as well as EARSC and EuroTeleServ. Others on the panel included: Colin Hicks (President of Eurisy), Bob Pels (Region Flevoland NL) and Franz Jaskolla (Infoterra).
