Emergency Communications with Satellites
When disaster strikes, land-based communications infrastructures are often destroyed or overloaded. Satellite communications offer a resilience and reliability against terrestrial uncertainties. They can be flown in immediately after disaster strikes to support relief efforts and let loved ones be in touch.
Satellite communications are used by emergency forces across the world. Some members of ESOA are also members of Telecoms Sans Frontiers (www.tsfi.org). Presently ESOA members are supporting efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake that has affected the country.
