Satellite operators raise concerns with ITU spectrum demand model

In the run up to the next World Radio Conference in November 2015, satellite operators have been collaborating to protect satellite spectrum.

Mobile service operators and equipment manufacturers (the International Mobile Terrestrial community) is lobbying heavily for additional spectrum to support the development of new, additional terrestrial mobile wireless systems. Amongst the frequency bands that the IMT community is targeting for its growth are Fixed-Satellite Services (FSS) and Mobile-Satellite Services (MSS) bands.

The satellite community has made submissions to the ITU noting its concerns with inputs to the model used to forecast the IMT community's spectrum requirements.
